ROVENNA – LAKE CONNECTION from SENTEE DI SORT to VIA VERDE.

- Starting on foot from Rovenna (cemetery parking lot), walk along the “Sentee di Sort” to the hamlet of Casarico.You p
- in Casarico, from the Little Chapel descend ca 50 m and at the first crossroads turn left (the descent leads instead to the village and the lake-navigation pier).
- Continuing on, you arrive at the hamlet Tosnacco (we recommend taking the short climb that starts at a small traffic light on the left – ca 500 mt from Casarico – to walk through the streets of the hamlet).
- the Green Way begins above the square in Tosnacco (you will find green stickers on the ground all the way to Laglio). The route ends on the lake road beside the Clooney mansion.
- in the municipality of Moltrasio you can follow the “Itinerando” signs indicating the major places of interest (water – stone – history – views).
- All along the route you will find directions to climb the mountains and on the ridge and crest by fitting into the Bisbino – Valle d’Intelvi route (Monti Lariani route).
- All along the itinerary you will find signs to get down to the lake with the landing stages of the navigation boats (Cernobbio – Moltrasio – Urio) and the stops of the regular buses.
Along the entire route you will find several drinking water fountains.
URIO / URIO MOUNTAINS – MURELLI REFUGE
(km. 5.9 – estimated time 3:00 hours)

- Parking lot near the Urio Cemetery
- From the cemetery entrance starts the steep, well-maintained mule track to the Urio Mountains
- Cross the huts and continue uphill on the mule track.
- reached the Bisbino – Val d’Intelvi forest road, continue to the right to the hut.
- From the Murelli Refuge you can reach the Roccolo San Bernardo Farmhouse and from there the scenic summit of Mt. Colmegnone.
- the return can be on the same route or from the Carate Mountains
RING ROUTE: CAVADINO – CARATE MOUNTAINS
(km. 5.3 – estimated time 2:30 hours)

- Urio Cemetery / Cavadino hamlet parking lot
- Starting on foot from the hamlet of Cavadino before entering the village, you will find signs for SS Trinity on the left.
- upon reaching the church, continue along a steep mule track then trail to the junction with signs for the Carate Mountain
- Continue to the right along a level path with a beautiful old stone bridge to the main mule track. Continue uphill and in about 10 minutes you reach the Carate Mountains.
- for the return trip, follow the beautiful and well-maintained mule track downhill to the Statale Regina, which you follow for about 400 m (towards Como) to reach Santa Marta and the Via Verde to Cavadino.
CARATE URIO / CARATE MOUNTAINS – MURELLI REFUGE
(km. 5.5 – estimated time 3:00 hours)
- maximum altitude RIFUGIO MURELLI (mt. 1240) – minimum altitude SANTA MARTA (mt. 317)
- Carate Cemetery / Santa Marta parking lot
- from the church of Santa Marta go down the state road for about 400 m until you meet the yellow Monti di Carate sign (Via ai monti).
- N.B.: do not follow the Monti di Carate sign beside Santa Marta Cemetery (it gets lost in the woods)
- you follow the beautiful and steep mule track to the Carate Mountains that crosses the old stone quarry.
- reached the locality Monti di Carate, continue uphill on the mule track (then trail) to Rifugio Murelli. From here you can reach the Roccolo San Bernardo Farmhouse and the scenic peak of Mount Colmegnone.
- return can be on the same route or from Rifugio Murelli in the direction of Bisbino take the first mule track that descends to the left towards the Urio Mountains. From here continue downhill to Cavadino and then Santa Marta.
SANTA MARTA – BRIENNO
(km. 6.8 – estimated time 2:00 hours)

- the route is indicated by green vignette markings up to the Soldino locality, then by green/blue markings.
- the first section to Laglio retraces the Via Verde among the hamlets of the village; past the state highway tramit underpass, the route connects the upper hamlets and then continues on a path to Brienno with beautiful panoramic views.
