Basso Lario: Maslianico – Cernobbio

PATROL TRAIL – LOOP: MASLIANICO – MAN CROSS – PIAZZA S. STEFANO

(km 7.00 – estimated time 3:00 hours)

• minimum altitude ROGGIANA (mt. 316) – maximum altitude CROCE DELL’UOMO (mt. 808)
• Roggiana parking lot
• from the parking lot walk a few meters in the direction of the Swiss border gate where near the net the staircase of the “Patrol Path” begins.
• this completely stepped trail (1,100 m trail with an elevation gain of about 460 m) is very challenging
• at the end of the climb you reach the path that connects the Swiss village of Sagno, towards the right in a few minutes you reach the little church of the Cross of Man.
• from the church down to Piazzola on the path enriched by Giò Aramini’s sculptures.
• reached the road, travel downhill to Piazza Santo Stefano and from there return to Roggiana along the road to Switzerland.

You will walk on trails and paths related to smuggling and transit route for the safety of so many in Switzerland during World War II.

RING ROVENNA – BELVEDERE DI MADRONA

(km 6.4 – estimated time 2:30 hours)

• minimum altitude ROVENNA (mt. 445) – maximum altitude BELVEDERE DI MADRONA (mt. 853)
• Rovenna cemetery parking lot
• From the church in Rovenna, take Via Umberto I, which runs through the entire hamlet until you find the beginning of the mule track (signs Fonte Anzone).
• you walk along the mule track reaching the Parlig huts, then past the Anzone fountain (drinking water) you will find the path on the right signposted Madrona.
• reached the carriage road in Madrona, a sign indicates the short path leading to the scenic Belvedere (picnic area).
• For the return trip, from the carriage road, go down the mule track marked Rovenna.

ROVENNA – VETTA BISBINO (classic route)

(km 5.5 – estimated time 2:30 hours)

• minimum altitude ROVENNA (mt. 445) – maximum altitude BISBINO (mt. 1,325)
• Rovenna cemetery parking lot
• From the church in Rovenna, follow the signs for Monte Bisbino next to the drinking fountain
• you walk the beautiful and steep mule track past the Scarone Mountains to Madrona.
• From Madrona, a section of carriage road is followed until the mule track is resumed
• Crossed the road again from the beginning of the pine forest, continue to the summit.

Please note: along the entire route there is no possibility of water refilling.

GARZEGALLO – BUGONE

(km. 1.6 – estimated time min. 40)

• Height difference about 175 m. – trail on the lake side
• Parking in the straight near the picnic area equipped
• Recommended route to reach Rifugio Bugone, Murelli, Agriturismo Roccolo San Bernardo and the Via dei Monti Lariani without going up to Ca’ Bossi.
• from the carriage road after the picnic area on the right you will find signs for Garzegallo reachable in a few minutes.
• the route then continues on the left uphill with the sign Bugone.
• the itinerary can be reached on foot from the Bisbino mule track: after crossing the carriage road before the pine forest, continue on the mule track uphill to the first path on the right (you pass two beautiful stone huts) and in a few minutes you will find the “Bugone” signpost again.
